The 2024 Gregor G. Peterson Prize in Venture Philanthropy was awarded to the nonprofit organization Informing America Foundation on Wednesday at the American Legislative Exchange Council’s States & Nation Policy Summit in Washington, D.C.

The Gregor G. Peterson Prize in Venture Philanthropy, which offers a one-time grant of $250,000 payable over three years, is named after Greg Peterson, one of America’s first venture capitalists.

The prize, launched in 2019 by the Peterson Family, is “awarded annually to a trailblazing start-up in the non-profit sector” to “honor Greg Peterson’s core principles in business and to advance his long-standing legacy of philanthropy.”

Informing America Foundation was awarded this year’s Gregor G. Peterson Prize for its work in “helping news and media outlets educate the American people about important public policy issues via high-quality investigative journalism” through 2,000 hyperlocal media platforms and 10 national platforms, which reach an audience of more than 50 million people.

Deborah Myers, Informing America Foundation’s president and CEO, said the nonprofit was “honored” to receive the Gregor G. Peterson Prize.

“We strive to embody the values and ethos held by the great Gregor G. Peterson, whose mentorship and contributions to America’s entrepreneurial spirit enhanced the lives of countless people and whose legacy will continue to inspire for decades to come,” Myers (pictured above) added.

John Solomon, CEO and editor-in-chief of Just the News, which is owned and operated by Informing America Foundation’s beneficiary, Bentley Media Group LLC, added that being awarded the Gregor G. Peterson Prize is a “testament to the Informing America Foundation’s unshakable commitment to ensuring the American people are educated about the issues impacting their lives.”

“This generous grant will help grow IAF’s rapidly expanding ecosystem of more than 2,000 hyperlocal platforms and 10 national platforms that reach more than 50 million Americans,” Solomon added.
